Women are only 23% of science and technology workers in Canada. We often hear the reasoning, "Girls just aren't into STEM," but let's ask why.
Learn MoreIn just one year, we have reached 55,000+ individuals in 10 provinces, 96 countries, and all inhabited continents through our events and social media.
Learn MoreOur approach is to actively bring girls into STEM by hosting workshops, panels, contests, and hackathons that equip them with both soft and hard skills.

The past two years working as the Podcast Director of Superposition has been an extremely rewarding experience! Being a part of this team has enabled me to make a huge difference in my community while learning new skills and knowledge daily. Superposition has taught me many skills like collaboration, communication, leadership, and public speaking which I will carry with me throughout my life. This opportunity to work with like-minded individuals to reach our common goal of empowering women in STEM has also enabled me to grow as a person.
For too long, I simply accepted the fact that some things were just going to remain the way they were. When my male friends took jabs at my coding skills, I just laughed with them too - I thought it was just something I was going to have to put up with. No one ever wants to call it out, because we all just want to avoid trouble and pretend that things are fine, when in reality, that's far from the truth. I didn't think anything could really change - but that's because no one was actually trying. So I took a chance and tried. I wanted to create a community of individuals with similar interests/goals, to provide educational opportunities on topics that schools don’t teach, and for girls to pursue their passions with confidence rather than doubt.
Joining Superposition Toronto was honestly one of the best decisions I made last year. As the Co-Director of Operations, I’ve gained and cultivated my leadership, time management, organization, and communication skills, and I’ve been able to oversee, work, and network with so many amazing, like-minded individuals! It’s a spectacular journey to see every single one of our events go from the brainstorming stage to planning and finally seeing it actualized. It’s also been a joy to see how many people are interested in our mission to bridge the gender gap in STEM and participate in our events to further their own education outside of school! The culture here at Superposition Toronto is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive as well. We have executive socials every month and everyone’s friends with everyone on the team.
The past year on Superposition Toronto has been a blast! As the Co-Director of External Relations, I was able to make a difference in the community while learning more about various fields from industry professionals. Superposition Toronto has helped me develop many skills including leadership, pitching, and problem solving. From coffee chats to Secret Santa Ubereats, my experience as an executive member was not limited to working. I made so many incredible friends and we all enjoyed working together toward a common objective: creating educational resources and a supportive community to empower women in STEM!
To say that being an executive at Superposition Toronto was fun, rewarding, or enjoyable would be an understatement. The opportunity to work with like-minded individuals to empower women in STEM and be a part of this amazing international community has helped me grow as an individual while making a global impact.
For me, being a part of the SuperDISCOVERY hackathon was a transformative experience. As it was my first hackathon individually, I learned about my true potential and ability to conceptualize ideas quickly. The workshops, especially on research, provided a solid foundation and the Discord community kept me well-informed throughout the event. Being chosen as a Top 10 Finalist pushes me to aim for new heights in the future. A big thank you to Superposition Toronto for organizing this event and to my judge for the valuable feedback.
Attending SuperDiscovery was a game-changer for me. The diverse workshops, especially the ML sessions, deepened my understanding and fueled my passion for research. The event allowed me to realize my potential to explore new areas in my field, and my biggest takeaway was the confidence to apply these insights in real-world projects. It was an incredibly enriching experience that left me inspired and motivated to continue my journey in research.
Despite having no prior research experience, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed participating in this SuperDISCOVERY event! With the challenges of the first day, such as creating a team, settling on a theme, and getting started in general, I found myself leading and planning the group project alongside my teammates. Despite repeated burnouts and misunderstandings, the dedication of all my team members led to a fantastic result - Top 10! I will forever cherish the moments and lifelong friendships I’ve formed over this brief but profound two-day journey. And I'm looking forward to future prospects in the huge field of research!
I really enjoyed the workshop overall! I liked the interactive tutorial on Tinkercad, as well as the engaging kahoot. Additionally, the content of the presentation was very well suited for my level of understanding, which made it very interesting. The workshop was really fun overall, and has definitely gotten me interested in biomedical engineering!
It was amazing being able to sit through a workshop like this, even though a pandemic. I loved how it talked about Blockchain, it's not a topic that's discussed at school very often but it has so many applications in the future. Everyone talks about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency but not many people know how it works or know why it's important to the evolution of our society.
I really love how thorough the speaker was when answering the questions and how active the attendees were as well. My favorite part was how enjoyful and jokeful Dr. Rao was. Glad I came! ^-^
I liked the choice to work with a partner, the interactive aspect with the exec, and the amount of puzzles was nice. The lemonade invisible ink part was neat, I loved that! Very good use of paper medium and social media. One of most fun online escape room I've had this year. Thanks for the help Nikita and wondering what y'all have in store for the future!
We will get back to you as soon as we can.
