STEM drives innovation for everyone, but such innovation would not be possible without a diversity in perspectives. This lack of diversity represents a loss of talent and discovery, and thus, hinders further societal development. From a logistical standpoint, studies also show that companies with diverse workforces outperform others financially, with companies in the top 25% for gender diversity being 15% more likely to have higher financial returns. However, gender minorities are discouraged from pursuing STEM due to underrepresentation or discrimination–factors that are outside of their control.
